Video translation
Subtitles and dubbing for a video, in the languages you choose. The results are saved to My Files.
Video translation makes subtitles and dubbed audio for a video, in up to 10 languages at once. Open it from the Video translation card in the Files section of the Translation Hub, or from the Library.
- 1
Choose a video. Pick a video file with sound, up to 3 GB and three hours long.
- 2
Spoken language. Pick the language spoken in the video, or leave it on Detect automatically.
- 3
Translate into. Tick up to 10 languages. Languages are listed by their full names.
- 4
What to make. Choose Subtitles (SRT and VTT), Dubbed audio and video, or both. An Estimated price table appears, line by line, in tokens.
- 5
Upload and continue. The video is uploaded and its real length is measured. Nothing is charged yet.
- 6
Confirm and pay. Check the final price, which is set from the real length of the uploaded file, and press Confirm and pay. Press Cancel to stop without paying.
While the translation runs you can close the page. The work continues, and the result is there when you come back. While it is still waiting to start, Cancel and refund stops it and returns the tokens. If something can't be made, it is refunded and the page lists what was left out.
Getting your results
When the translation is done, Vavus encrypts the results and saves them into My Files, then deletes its own copies. You see "Saved to My Files. Our copy has been deleted." The saved files count against your storage.
On the results page you can:
- play the video, and switch the Audio between the original and each dubbed language;
- turn Subtitles on in any of your languages, or Off;
- use Downloads to save one video with every audio and subtitle track, each dubbed video, or each subtitle file as SRT or VTT;
- press Delete now to remove the results, or Translate another video to start again.
When storage is short
Before you start, Vavus checks the space the results will need. If there isn't enough room you see "This needs about X and you have Y left", with two choices:
- Save to your computer instead: the results are saved to your computer, not to My Files.
- Get more storage: opens the storage add-on checkout.
The same check runs again when the results are ready.
