Connect your own web services (APIs) so the AI can use them in chat, and save instructions as reusable skills.

Tools & Skills — "Connect your own web services (APIs) so the AI can use them in chat, and save instructions as reusable skills." Open it from Library → AI & Create. The page has two tabs, Tools and Skills.

Tools

A tool is a web service you run or use, described so the AI knows when and how to call it. Once a tool is turned on, the AI can call it while you chat.

  1. 1
    Add tool

Opens "Add a custom tool". With no tools yet, the button reads "Add your first tool".

  2. 2
    Name

The name the AI sees, for example "lookup_order". Lowercase letters, numbers and underscores only, 1 to 40 characters.

  3. 3
    Description

What the tool does, so the AI knows when to use it.

  4. 4
    HTTP method and URL template

How the service is called (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH or DELETE) and its address. Put a value from the AI into the address by writing the parameter's name in curly brackets at that spot. The domain itself must be fixed.

  5. 5
    Authentication

None, Custom header, Bearer token or Query parameter. Enter the key or token under "Credential". When editing, leave it blank to keep the stored one, or choose "Remove stored credential".

  6. 6
    Timeout (ms) and Enabled

How long to wait for the service, and whether the AI may use the tool.

  7. 7
    Parameters

The values the AI can pass to the tool. Each has a name, a description, where it goes (Path, Query or Body) and a type (Text, Number or Boolean). Add one with "Add parameter".

  8. 8
    Save tool

Saves the tool. If something is missing, the form lists what to fix.

  9. 9
    Tool card

Shows the tool, a lock when a credential is stored, and how many times it has been used. The switch turns the tool on or off.

  10. 10
    Test

Sends a real request to the service with the arguments you enter, and shows the status and the result. For anything other than GET, you first confirm that the request will run against the live service.

  11. 11

Changes or removes the tool. Skills that use a deleted tool lose access to it.

Skills

A skill is a saved instruction, plus the tools the AI may use while following it. In AI Chat, choose a skill with the "Skill" button at the top of the chat, and the AI follows it for that chat.

  1. 1
    New skill

Opens the skill form. With no skills yet, the button reads "Create your first skill".

  2. 2
    Name, Icon and Description

The skill's name (each name can be used once), an optional emoji, and an optional note on what it is for.

  3. 3
    Instruction

Tell the AI exactly how to behave when this skill is active.

  4. 4
    Suggested model

The AI model to use with this skill. "Auto (recommended)" lets Vavus choose.

  5. 5
    Enabled

Only enabled skills appear in AI Chat.

  6. 6
    Tools

The built-in tools and your own tools ("My custom tools") this skill can use. A custom tool you have turned off can still be added to a skill.

  7. 7
    Save skill

    Saves the skill.

  8. 8
    Skill card

Shows the tools the skill uses and how many times it has been used, with a switch to turn it on or off, and Edit and Delete.
