Settings tab

Application preferences — theme, interface language, startup behaviour, tray, notifications, history sync, data export, account deletion.

Settings is one long page (not tabs) grouped into four sections: Account shortcuts, Application preferences, Data, and Privacy. Hotkeys are not rebound here — they use their default chords. Languages live on their own tab.

  1. 1
    Email row

Read-only — shows the email tied to your Vavus account.

  2. 2
    Subscription shortcut

Opens the Billing tab. Shows your current plan label on the right.

  3. 3
    Security & recovery shortcut

Opens the Security tab — zero-knowledge encryption mode and recovery phrase live there.

  4. 4
    Languages shortcut

    Opens the Languages tab.

  5. 5
    Support shortcut

Opens the Support tab — live chat, email, docs, and bug reports.

  6. 6
    Theme

Light, Dark, or System (follow your OS appearance setting).

  7. 7
    Interface language

The language the Vavus app itself displays in. Defaults to "System default" — your OS locale. Separate from the source/target language used for dictation and translation.

  8. 8
    App version & updates

Shows the current version, lets you check for new releases, and (on macOS / Windows / AppImage Linux) downloads and installs them. On .deb installs it links to the AppImage build instead, since .deb cannot auto-update itself.

  9. 9
    Start on login

Launch Vavus Keyboard automatically when you sign in to your computer. Honored as a per-user system setting on all three platforms.

  10. 10
    Minimize to tray

Closing the window hides the app to the tray instead of quitting it. The hotkeys keep working in the background.

  11. 11
    Notifications

Toggle the OS-level notifications that confirm dictation, translation, and reverse-translation results.

  12. 12
    History — Off / Local / Cloud

Off: don't store results at all. Local: keep on this device only (default). Cloud: mirror encrypted history across your other Vavus devices.

  13. 13
    Clear history

Wipes all entries on this device. Asks for confirmation.

  14. 14
    Reset settings

Restores every preference on this page to its default. Asks for confirmation. Does not log you out or delete history.

  15. 15
    Export data

GDPR Article 15/20 download — a JSON copy of your account data, including encrypted history (decrypted on this device first if a password is supplied). Requires your password.

  16. 16
    Delete account

Permanently deletes your Vavus account and all associated encrypted data. Cannot be undone. Requires your password.

  17. 17
    Log out

Signs you out of this device. Hotkeys stop responding until you sign back in.
