Translate hotkey (Ctrl+T)
The global Ctrl+T hotkey — copy text in any app, press Ctrl+T, and the translation lands on your clipboard ready to paste.
Ctrl+T is the "translate what I just copied" shortcut. Highlight any text in any app, hit Cmd/Ctrl+C to copy, then press Ctrl+T. Vavus translates the clipboard text from your source language to your target language and writes the translation back onto the clipboard so a single Ctrl+V drops it wherever your cursor is.
- 1Step 1 — Copy text
Select text in any app and copy it (Cmd+C on macOS, Ctrl+C on Linux/Windows). Vavus reads from the system clipboard.
- 2Step 2 — Press Ctrl+T
The status pill flips to "Translating". Vavus sends the text through your chosen engine — Vavus AI for context-aware translation or V-Translate for the fastest cloud path. Offline mode runs m2m100 fully on your device.
- 3Step 3 — Translation copied
A notification confirms the result. Source language is auto-detected if "Clipboard auto-detect" is on; otherwise Vavus assumes the source language set in Translation.
- 4Step 4 — Ctrl+V to paste
The translation is now on your clipboard. Paste it anywhere with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on macOS).
