Reverse translate hotkey (Ctrl+R)

The global Ctrl+R hotkey — translates clipboard text in the opposite direction (target → source), useful for reading replies you've received.

Ctrl+R is the mirror image of Ctrl+T. Copy text that's already in your target language, press Ctrl+R, and Vavus translates it back to your source language so you can read it. It's the shortcut you reach for when someone replies to you in the language you were writing to them in.

  1. 1
Step 1 — Copy text in the target language

Highlight the foreign-language reply or paragraph in any app and copy it.

  2. 2
    Step 2 — Press Ctrl+R

Vavus translates clipboard contents from your target language back to your source language — the reverse of what Ctrl+T does. The status pill shows "Reverse translating".

  3. 3
    Step 3 — Translation copied

A notification confirms the result. The translation is now on the clipboard.

  4. 4
    Step 4 — Ctrl+V to paste

Paste anywhere — into a notes app, a reply draft, or just to read.
